Washington County Ambulance Crew Recovering After Vehicle Collision

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - On Thursday, October 16, 2025, a Washington County Ambulance District (WCAD) ambulance was struck by another vehicle that crossed the center line while the crew was returning to their base from a service call.

According to WCAD officials, both crew members sustained minor to moderate injuries. One was transported by ground ambulance to a local facility for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries, while the other was flown by air ambulance to a regional trauma center for treatment of moderate injuries. Both have since been released from the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the crash.

WCAD Chief Executive Officer Justin Duncan expressed gratitude for the quick response from fellow emergency personnel and community support following the incident.

“We are deeply grateful for the swift response and support of our emergency services partners and neighboring agencies,” said Duncan. “Vehicles are replaceable, human beings are not. We are beyond thankful that our crew members are safe, and we are humbled by the outpouring of support from our community and fellow first responders.”

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
