With First Day of Summer Heat Safety is Priority

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The first day of summer is Friday and with the new season comes higher temperatures that cause safety concerns for many.

Donovan Kleinberg, the Environmental Public Health Specialist and Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, for the St. Francois County Health Center, says children and the elderly are effected most.

According to Kleinberg, we should always check on the very young and the elderly when temperatures are high. He adds if you're going to be out in the heat, you should wear light colored clothing, a hat, get plenty of water, and take frequent breaks.
