St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Two people from St. Louis were injured in an ATV crash Friday evening at the Lake Hannah off-road area known as "The Flats."
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 45-year-old male driver of a 2022 Polaris RZR Pro XP was attempting to perform a "donut" maneuver around 7:30 p.m. when the ATV overturned. The crash caused both passengers, a 35-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy, to be partially ejected from the vehicle.
Troopers say the ATV landed on the adult female passenger’s leg, causing serious injuries. She was transported by ambulance to Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis. The juvenile male passenger sustained a minor head injury and was taken to Parkland Health Center South in Farmington.
The driver, who was wearing a safety device, was not injured and was able to drive the ATV away from the scene. Authorities report the ATV sustained only minor damage.
