St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department reports that a Sunday traffic stop led to the arrest of two men from Poplar Bluff after deputies uncovered a large quantity of suspected drugs.
On September 14, 2025, a K-9 Deputy conducted a stop on U.S. Highway 67 near Leadington for defective equipment. During the investigation, the deputy obtained verbal consent to search the vehicle. The search revealed 156 “beans” of suspected fentanyl and approximately 50 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested and taken to the St. Francois County Detention Center. While being processed, one of the men allegedly attempted to discard drug paraphernalia on the floor. A further search uncovered additional suspected fentanyl concealed on his body.
Authorities identified the suspects as Chance Hubbard and Christopher Jameson, both of Poplar Bluff.
Hubbard faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, trafficking drugs, and possession or delivery of a controlled substance into a correctional facility. Jameson is charged with possession of a controlled substance and trafficking drugs.
The Sheriff’s Department says the case remains under investigation.
