Sullivan Man Arrested for Arson After Fire Destroys Two Structures in Washington County

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Sullivan man is facing felony charges after deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential structure fire on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

Deputies were dispatched to the Washington County portion of Sullivan for a reported fire. Upon arrival, they discovered two structures on the property had sustained severe damage. After conducting an on-scene investigation, authorities determined the fire had been intentionally set. The suspect, identified as Joe Morgan Freeman of Sullivan, was arrested at the scene.

Freeman has been charged in Washington County with second-degree arson and first-degree property damage. His bond has been set at $25,000 cash only.
