Stolen Vehicle Recovered in Washington County; Potosi Man Arrested

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Washington County Sheriff’s deputy recovered a stolen vehicle during a patrol Friday, September 12, 2025, along State Highway U between Irondale and Potosi.

According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy noticed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. When the deputy attempted a stop, the driver turned into a nearby residence, apparently trying to avoid law enforcement. The deputy quickly made contact, and an investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of St. Francois County.

The driver, identified as Shawn Pierce of Potosi, was taken into custody. He has been charged with Tampering with a Motor Vehicle.

Bond was set at $25,000 cash only. The vehicle was safely recovered.
