Potosi Man Arrested After K-9 Alert Leads to Drug Discovery

Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - A traffic stop conducted by the Potosi Police Department on July 30 led to the arrest of a local man on serious drug charges.

During the stop on North Missouri Street, K-9 Aleks was deployed for a free air sniff around the vehicle. The K-9 alerted officers to the presence of narcotics, prompting a search of both the vehicle and the driver. Authorities discovered methamphetamine and 53 pills later identified as a controlled substance.

The driver, Kristopher Benjamin of Potosi, was arrested and charged with two counts of Delivering a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana or Synthetic Marijuana. Benjamin is currently being held without bond at the Washington County Jail.
