New Details Released in Child Sex Crime Arrest of Farmington Man

Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - New information has been released regarding the arrest of a Farmington man in connection to child sex crimes, a story we first brought you last week.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 24-year-old Christopher J. Short was taken into custody on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, by the Division of Drug and Crime Control’s Special Victims Unit following an extensive investigation. Authorities say the investigation began in December 2024, when the SVU received a cyber-tip during an online child pornography operation. The tip indicated that a device linked to Short had been used to share a sexually explicit video involving a child. On May 21, investigators executed a search warrant at Short’s residence in Farmington, where he was interviewed and additional evidence was collected.

He was arrested at the scene and transported to the St. Francois County Jail. On May 22, the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney formally charged Short with two felony counts of Sexual Trafficking of a Child.

He remains in custody on a $200,000 bond.
