Missouri Legislators Pass New Fiscal Year Budget

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - The new $53.1 billion state budget for Missouri has been approved by legislators.

State Senator of the 3rd District, Mike Henderson, says he's happy with what legislators have come up with.

In a surprise move, a part of the budget, that would have funded hundreds of millions of dollars in capital improvements, was left out.

The new budget provides for full funding of the K-12 public school foundation formula, gives a 1% raise for every two years of state employment up to 20 years, and adds $50 million to the state's Empowerment Scholarship Account Program.

There are also tens of millions of dollars for infrastructure projects and $20 million for rural and low volume roads across Missouri. The budget was approved last Friday, May 9, 2025.
