Mineral Point Woman Charged in $12K Theft from De Soto Amvets

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A woman from Mineral Point is facing criminal charges after allegedly stealing more than $12,000 from Amvets Post 48 in DeSoto.

According to a probable cause statement from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, investigators were alerted on June 5 to a pattern of thefts at the post, located in the 1000 block of Amvets Drive.

Tina L. Hammers admitted to investigators that she took a total of $12,928.15 between October 2023 and April 2025. Hammers reportedly told authorities she had been struggling financially and intended to pay the money back. She has been charged by the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with one count of stealing – $750 or more, a felony.

Hammers was issued a criminal summons and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, August 11.
