Herculaneum, Mo. (KFMO) - McNutt Street will be closed under Interstate 55 beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, May 30, through 5 a.m. Monday, June 2, to allow crews to demolish the old southbound I-55 bridge.
Traffic on southbound I-55 has already been shifted onto a newly constructed bridge over McNutt Street, making way for the demolition of the old structure. Although McNutt Street will be fully closed beneath the interstate, all lanes of I-55 will remain open throughout the weekend. Drivers west of I-55 on McNutt Street who need to access northbound I-55 will be detoured onto southbound I-55, then use the exit ramp to Veterans Boulevard eastbound. From there, they will travel north on U.S. 61/67 and then west on McNutt Street to reach the northbound I-55 entrance ramp. Meanwhile, drivers east of I-55 on McNutt Street needing access to southbound I-55 will be detoured onto northbound I-55, exit at Route Z westbound, and then enter southbound I-55 from there.
Travelers in the Herculaneum area are encouraged to use alternative routes during the closure. All work is weather permitting.
