Officer Injured Following Late-Night Police Chase, Suspect Still at Large

Bonne Terre, Mo. (KFMO) - A Bonne Terre police officer was sent to the hospital with a head injury following a late-night police chase through the city Saturday night.

At 11:30 p.m, an officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a streetbike in the area of Highway 67 and Highway K. The bike failed to yield, and began traveling westbound on Highway 47. At the intersection of Benham Street and Division Street, the bike began to skid. In an effort to avoid the accident, the officer's vechicle also began to skid, before colliding with a concrete pole.

Bonne Terre Police Chief Jasen Crump says the officer is expected to make a full recovery.

The suspect was able to get back onto his bike and flee the scene. As of Sunday afternoon, the suspect has not been located.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is handling the investigation of the accident. The Bonne Terre Police Department is continuing to work to identify the driver of the bike.

This is a developing story. KFMO B104 News will have the latest on-air and online as it becomes available.
