Jefferson County Man Pleads Guilty to Sending Obscene Material to a Minor

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Jefferson County man has pleaded guilty in federal court to sending obscene material to a minor.

Federal prosecutors say 31-year-old Jamal W. Kimball entered the guilty plea Tuesday in U.S. District Court to one count of transferring obscene material to a minor.

According to court records, Kimball contacted an undercover FBI agent posing as a 13-year-old girl on the social media app Kik Messenger. The communication took place between December 2022 and May 2023, during which Kimball sent explicit messages and images.

The FBI’s Kansas City office alerted agents in St. Louis, who executed a court-approved search of Kimball’s home. Investigators recovered his cell phone and other electronic devices. A forensic search of the phone revealed additional evidence showing Kimball had solicited and received child sexual abuse material from a 15-year-old in Ohio through Snapchat.

Kimball is scheduled to be sentenced on August 20.
