Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has officially repealed a key part of Proposition A, just months after voters approved it.
The repeal, signed into law as House Bill 567, eliminates the requirement for employers to provide paid sick leave starting August 28. Proposition A passed in 2024 and had required businesses to offer one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked.
It also raised the state minimum wage to $15 by 2026. Supporters of the repeal say it removes burdens on businesses. Opponents call it a rollback of workers’ rights and are exploring a new ballot measure to protect paid leave in the state constitution.
