Desloge, Mo. (KFMO) - Work continues on the roundabout project at Route 8 and State Street in Desloge, with a major traffic change set to begin this month.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), during the week of June 23, contractor crews will begin installing a drainage pipe and removing existing traffic signals and concrete islands at the intersection. Temporary signals will be set up to help direct traffic through the construction zone.
Crews will work overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and flaggers will be present to assist with traffic flow. Motorists are reminded to slow down and use caution while traveling through the area.
Beginning Thursday, June 26, State Street will close for 50 days, weather permitting, as workers connect the new pavement to the existing road. Route 8 remains reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction throughout the project.
MoDOT says the entire work zone will be clearly marked with signage, and drivers are urged to stay alert and be patient as construction progresses.
