St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Bonne Terre man is dead following a motorcycle crash Friday night in St. Francois County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 62-year-old man was riding a 2008 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic westbound on Missouri Route Y, just west of Snowdell Road, when the crash occurred around 9:53 p.m.
Troopers say the motorcycle passed another vehicle as it entered a curve, continued to accelerate, and was traveling too fast for road conditions. The rider was unable to negotiate the curve, causing the motorcycle to run off the right side of the road and overturn. The driver was completely ejected and struck a delineator post along with the motorcycle.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:39 p.m. at Mercy Hospital Jefferson. He was transported to the St. Francois County Morgue by Jefferson County Ambulance. The motorcycle was totaled and towed from the scene.
