St. Francois County, Mo. (KFMO) - As the new school year begins, Missouri law enforcement is reminding drivers to be extra cautious on the roadways.
Corporal Dallas Thompson with the Missouri State Highway Patrol says drivers should expect increased morning traffic with school buses back on their routes and more teen drivers heading to class.
Thompson emphasizes that passing a stopped school bus is illegal and dangerous. He adds that many school districts are working directly with law enforcement and will report any drivers who violate bus stop laws.
The Highway Patrol encourages all motorists to plan for extra travel time, stay alert, and watch for children walking or biking to school in the mornings and afternoons.
